PhD programme to study the
cell biology of neurodegenerative diseases.
We are seeking a trainee scientist to join a multidisciplinary
research group. Our group is studying the molecular and cellular
basis of degenerative diseases of the brain. The research
will be principally focused on the motor nervous system, although
part of the study will have a direct relationship to Parkinsons
and Alzheimers diseases. The PhD project will be centred
around the study of second generation transgenic mice, in which
the genetic disruption is inducible and specific to designated cell-types.
The student will be exposed to diverse techniques and will receive
training to undertake multidisciplinary in vivo studies. The
project is suitable for students whom have received undergraduate
training in either Neuroscience, Cell Biology or Molecular Biology/Biochemistry.
The project is funded by the Health Research Council.
