OMSRS Summer Student Speaker Award Success
ImageCongratulations to Samantha Murray who received a runner-up award at the recent Otago Medical School Research Society (OMSRS) Summer Student Speaker Awards.  Samantha is a BSc(Hons) Neuroscience major.  Her presentation was entitled “Does the schizophrenia-inducing cytokine IL-6 alter neurite growth in the developing brain?”

Her presentation was based on the results of her summer research project in the Centre for Neuroendocrinology laboratory within the Department of Anatomy.  Her study was aided by an OSMS Summer Research Scholarship.  The project itself was a collaboration between Dr Christine Jasoni from the Department of Anatomy, and Professor David Bilkey from the Department of Psychology, and it was supported by the Brain Health Research Centre.

Samantha is supervised in the Department by Dr Christine Jasoni.
